Forseeablity Based Planning
Forseeability can be your liability
Since certain acts have occurred in or near your company, your company should reasonably be expected to foresee potential
security problems and provide adequate security measures to protect against them. Not planning to protect against a foreseeable
injury or attack could be considered negligence. You knew about the risks your customers faced when entering your property. You
did not warn them, nor did you do anything to protect them. It would seem to a jury that you only were after your customer’s
money and had no concern for their personal safety. Moreover, foreseeablity could be established by all facts and circumstances,
not just prior violent acts. Therefore, prior thefts may be sufficient to establish foreseeablity since these offenses could lead to
violence.

Upon assuming a new security assignment
Upon assuming a security assignment, an Integral Officer needs and wants to know all possible threat scenarios. This requires an
open line of communication. All too often, we end up hearing horror stories from employees who have been around for a while and
seen it all and not from the managers who called us for assistance. We rather not have to get the information second hand. We
would prefer to know what we are facing. The Integral Officer would feel confident and trusted if told all the risks of the position.
Identify and evaluate each threat; determine the criticality and dollar cost of the risk It is better to know and be prepared for any
possible scenario specific to your business.

Your business is unique
Each business is unique and faces unique threats. In order to plan appropriately
we need to know the incidents that needed responding too: prior incidents, response
and consequences of loss if any.

Our measure of effectiveness
An Integral Officer’s measure of effectiveness is demonstrated by his/her ability to respond quickly and professionally. In order to
accomplish this, takes planning, preparation and practice. We need to first, be able to detect the occurrence of a situation and have
an appropriate response established from policy and procedures. Awareness of all possibilities is the trait of a good Integral
Officer; and thus be able to understand and follow policies to reduce the vulnerability of company property.

Continual open line of communication
It incumbent upon property owners and management to fully disclose all past
incidents and present threats that exists. A continual open line of communication
must be maintained to inform the off-site and on-site Integral Officer of the
identification of your threats and vulnerabilities. Each individual firm has problems
and threats that are unique. A through analysis is comprehensive and accurate and
leads to effective countermeasures.
Threat Assessments
Deciding what security measures you need are typically dependent upon a
realistic “Threat Assessment". First, identify  threats you are exposed to then
evaluate how serious each can be according to each consequence. This can be
determined according to the concept known as foreseeablity.
